Celebrating Our 2026 Steinberg Law Firm Scholarship Winners in the Lowcountry
Every year, we get a front-row seat to something encouraging, students across the South Carolina Lowcountry putting in the work to build a better future. The Steinberg Law Firm Scholarship Program is one of the ways we try to show up for the communities that have put their trust in our firm for nearly 100 years.
This year, three students have been selected to receive scholarships through the Steinberg Law Firm Scholarship Program:
- Macy B., Pinewood Preparatory School, Summerville, SC
- Phillip B., Berkeley High School, Summerville, SC
- Kyra S., Charleston County School of the Arts, Mt. Pleasant, SC
College, technical school, and other postsecondary paths all come with real costs, tuition, books, fees, housing, transportation, and the everyday expenses that do not pause just because classes start. In South Carolina, we hear families talk about those numbers all the time, not as a headline, but as a monthly stressor. That is why we keep this program going year after year, and why we are excited to recognize Macy, Phillip, and Kyra.
Why This Scholarship Matters in the Lowcountry
If you’ve helped a student get ready for college in South Carolina, you already know the “little” costs add up fast. A laptop, lab supplies, parking passes, placement tests, course codes, and even the first stack of books can feel like a second tuition bill. A $2,000 scholarship can cover a lot of expenses, and it can also bring something families value just as much, breathing room.
Our scholarship program is not about a single moment. It’s about building a tradition of support for the education of our youth that grows with each new group of recipients.
Congratulations to Macy, Phillip, and Kyra
To Macy B., Phillip B., and Kyra S., you earned this. Scholarships are recognition of your consistent effort, personal responsibility, and a decision to keep moving forward when it would be easier to slow down.
Students in the Lowcountry juggle a lot. Many balance school with work, family duties, sports, volunteer commitments, or caregiving at home. Some are first-generation college students. Some are navigating big transitions, new cities, new schedules, and new expectations. Whatever your story is, you should feel proud that you stood out in a way that mattered.
We hope these awards help with tuition, books, supplies, and the other real-world costs that come with taking the next step. Just as important, we hope it reminds you that the Lowcountry is paying attention, and your community is rooting for you.
Education Support Is Part of How We Give Back in the Lowcountry
Steinberg Law Firm was founded in 1927, and giving back has been part of our identity for a long time. South Carolina is home to many of our staff members, clients, friends, and families, and that makes community support personal.
Our scholarship program fits alongside other local efforts focused on students, families, and safety, including:
- Past scholarship announcements and recipient spotlights that celebrate student achievement.
- School supply drives that support classrooms across the Tri-County area, including Summerville, Goose Creek, North Charleston, and other surrounding towns.
- Programs aimed at preventing injuries before they happen, like our bicycle safety work with local schools.
- Holiday toy drive for needy children with Kay Phillips Child Advocacy Center.
- Staff volunteers preparing and serving warm, home-cooked meals for families at Ronald McDonald House’s Meals from the Heart.
- Cares for Kids Radiothon to benefit Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
These projects all come from the same simple belief: strong communities are built when people step up for each other. In South Carolina, that can look like helping a family get through a hard season, giving a needy child a better holiday, or helping a student stay in school for one more semester.
A Note to Families, Teachers, and Mentors in Lowcountry, South Carolina
Scholarship winners rarely get to the finish line alone. Behind many students in South Carolina can be parents working extra hours, grandparents offering steady support, teachers staying late, a coach teaching self-discipline, or a counselor helping them fill out forms when the process feels confusing.
If you helped Macy, Phillip, or Kyra get to this point, thank you. Your support counts, and it often shows up in ways the public never sees. In the Lowcountry, we are proud of the people who guide students with patience, structure, and encouragement. This scholarship is a celebration of the winners and a nod to the people who helped them believe this next step was possible.
