Cherokee Probate Judge Charged with DUI

A Cherokee CountyProbate Judge was arrested and charged with a DUI on Friday.

Cpl. Bryan McDougaldwith the Highway Patrol said that a trooper observed 31-year-old Josh Queendriving near West Rutledge Avenue at around 2:20 a.m. “The car was stopped fora traffic violation. The trooper identified the driver as Joshua Queen, and hewas taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center and charged.” McDougald said.

Police would not releaseany further details regarding the arrest, including the results of a Breathalyzertest. “That will come later with disposition of this case,” McDougald said.

Queen was appointedprobate judge in 2004. He was elected for a four-year term in 2006, when he ranunopposed.

Man Dies After Ambulance Collides with Car

A South Carolina man hasdied after an ambulance carrying a patient on a non-emergency call crashed intohis car.

Multiple media outletsreported that Oscar Whitner,44, died Saturday afternoon. Greenville police saya mirror on the ambulance hit Whitner.

According to police thecounty EMS ambulance did not have lights or sirens on and was driving toGreenville Memorial Hospital when it struck the car carrying Whitner on Fridaynight. Speed is not considered to be a factor in the crash, and the driver of thecar has not been identified.

The patient and two EMSworkers who were in the ambulance were not injured.

South Carolina Helicopter Crash Kills 3

The NationalTransportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of a medical emergencyservices helicopter that crashed in Georgetown, killing all three individualson board.

After dropping off apatient in Charleston about two hours earlier, the American Eurocopterhelicopter went down around 11:30 p.m. The company operating the flight,Omniflight Helicopters Inc., released a statement confirming the accident andexpressing condolences to the families of those killed. Omniflight said theidentity of the victims will not be released until notification of the familiesis complete.

According to the NTSB,fatal accidents of emergency medical helicopters reached a record high lastyear. Thirteen accidents killed 29 people. There have been over 80 incidents inthe last six years.

Driver Charged in Accident that Killed A State Trooper

Police have brought the charge of failure to yield the right of way against a 79 year-old woman who police say is responsible for causing an accident in which a 41 year-old South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was killed.

The accident took place at a charity benefit ride for a trooper that had lost his life several years prior.  The funeral was recently held for the fallen trooper and was attended by troopers from all over the country, as well as the Governor of South Carolina.

Two people airlifted to hospital following Conway hit-and-run crash

Two people were seriously injured in a crash in Conway Sunday night. The driver of one car hit another vehicle and then fled from the accident. 

The hit-and-run driver was later found close by, after hitting a tree on Elm Street. In the initial accident, one person flew out of the car, and the other was trapped under the vehicle. Both had to be airlifted to nearby hopsitals to treat serious injuries.

Crash Injures Driver

Tuesday morning, a car crashed into a house in Ladson. At 7:05am, the car was traveling along Miami Rd when it went off the left side of the road and struck a house near College Park Rd.

The driver of the car was taken to Trident Medical Center for treatment. He was listed in good condition. No one in the house was injured in the crash.
