Summer has arrived in Charleston! This also means the hot, humid sun is hanging around as well.

Don’t let the heat drag your summer plans through the mud – we’ve gathered a list of free activities you and your loved ones can attend around the Charleston area for a rockin’ summer time!

Cool Off With Fresh Produce

If you’re looking to taste the rainbow, Charleston Area Farmer’s Markets are a must! Our produce markets are jam-packed with fresh fruit, homemade lemonades, and live music! These farmer’s markets are a thriving ecosystem of local community members and good memories are waiting to happen. We recommend exploring farmer’s markets as a morning activity to beat the sun’s warm rays.  Get a list of the upcoming produce stands and veggie get-togethers here.

Charleston Carifest 2018

The annual Caribbean Carnival is a four-day celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month. Each year, the festival highlights a different Caribbean country’s culture, food, music and costumes. Charleston Carifest 2018 takes place June 22 – 24. Charleston Carifest also uses the event to raise awareness for Buckets for Haiti Program, which raises funds to collect and ship beans, rice, toothbrushes, and soap to civilians in Haiti.

Reach For The Stars

The weather is finally nice enough for Stargazing at Brittlebank Park! Meet up from Sunset until 9:00 pm on Wednesdays night, weather permitting, for beautiful skies and views right over the Charleston harbor.

If you have an aspiring astrologer among you, this is the perfect opportunity to get their hands on some serious stargazing equipment! Lowcountry Stargazers host the event and will be there with telescopes and ready to answer any questions! Keep up with their Facebook page to get info on events here.

Beach Movies

Enjoy free movies with friends and family at Tides on Folly Beach this summer. Watch some of your favorite movies, such as Frozen, Top Gun and Jaws, with sand between your toes and the sound of waves crashing in the background!

Second Sundays!

Hailed as one of the best shopping streets in America, King Street on Second Sunday is a must. Cars are re-routed so the street may turn into a lively pedestrian fair. Enjoy live music and outdoor dining in the heart of historic downtown while you sidewalk shop through local boutiques and munch on local food treasures!

Stay Hydrated, Stay Safe

The Steinberg Law Firm absolutely adores when the Charleston and lowcountry community can enjoy summer together. We want to remind everyone to be cautious with South Carolina heat and sun exposure. Sunscreen and proper hydration are key to making sure your summer adventures stay on track! Here are our tips on what heat stroke is and the warning signs it may be happening.

Remember to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated when enjoying the outdoors. A refillable water bottle is a great way to keep you and your loved ones hydrated, and keep plastic out of our oceans. If you are attending events where pedestrians are common or parking is congested, be cautious when walking and driving so everyone attending can enjoy themselves.

We hope you can enjoy summer in the Charleston area. We can’t wait to see you out and about at these awesome events! As always, we are only a phone call away at 843-720-2800.
