Fort Mill Teen Killed in York County Accident

A teen from Fort Mill, South Carolina was killed in an early morning car crash in York County Sunday.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Springfield Parkway and Gold Hill Road. Highway Patrol officials identified the victim as 18 year-old Fort Mill-resident Dakota Quinton.

Josef Robinson, a Lance Corporal with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said Quinton was traveling east on Springfield Road in a Ford Mustang at the time of the crash. As Quinton attempted to navigate a curve, he lost control of the vehicle, drove off the left side of the road. The car struck a utility pole and several trees before overturning.

Quinton was transported to nearby Piedmont Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

The crash is still under investigation.
