Man killed in pedestrian accident

Witnesses say the 66 year-old man involved in a fatal pedestrian accident was wearing all dark clothing on Sunday night when he crossed the street near Highway 17 and Veneer Drive in North Myrtle Beach. No one saw him until he was in front of the car that hit him.

The man was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, but later died. Law enforcement in North Myrtle Beach say that there have been many pedestrian accidents in the area, many of which have happened late at night. South Carolina Highway Patrol has stated that alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the accident.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim in this tragic accident.
