How Susceptible Are Nurses to Injuries While On The Job? Attorney Catherine Meehan Knows From Firsthand Experience.

Personal Injury Lawyers Representing Charleston & nearby areas of South Carolina

What sets Steinberg Law Firm apart from the rest? Many of our attorneys have more than one professional skill set, which helps shape a few of their current legal passions. Take Attorney Catherine D. Meehan, for example.

Before Catie was known for her legal prowess, she earned a B.S. in nursing from MUSC. She had frontline experience for three years working as a pediatric nurse at MUSC Children’s Hospital. Catie did not stop there, but graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Charleston School of Law in May of 2013.

It is an understatement to say Catie is passionate, especially about the interplay between law and medicine. While working as a nurse caring for her patients' health and safety, she noticed many at risk for various workplace injuries. These dual passions led her to the Steinberg Law Firm, where she combined firsthand experience and her legal degree to help injured people.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the most common nurse injuries that occur while on the job result from slips, trips, and falls, patient violence and patient handling. Catie observed these type of injuries herself.

“I want nurses to know options are out there if they are injured on the job. Workers’ Compensation exists to protect injured workers, and I am here to ensure they understand their rights and receive the benefits they deserve. Nurses face some of the most unexpected challenges, which leave them at risk for work-related injuries. Their job is to care for other people, but when injured, nurses need to know that they are entitled to medical treatment and compensation,” said Meehan.

Check out our previous blog post detailing these options. If you are a nursing professional who has been injured on the job and are unsure how to pursue compensation for your expenses and lost wages, contact our lawyer with first-hand experience, Catie Meehan.
