Pedestrian struck and killed by bus

A woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident after being struck by a tour bus in Orangeburg, S.C. The accident occurred at 2:10 a.m. on U.S. Route 301.

The 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency crews. The driver of the bus was also from South Carolina and the bus appears to be owned by Happy Tours LLC. No information was given on whether or not the bus driver suffered any injury. Police noted that the woman was walking on the road in dark attire and had no reflective gear on.

A full investigation into the accident is now underway. South Carolina has the fourth highest pedestrian death rate behind Florida, Delaware and Louisiana.
