STEINBERG LAW FIRM NAMED BEST IN STATE FOR WORKERS' COMPENSTION ADVOCACY The
Association of South Carolina Claimant Attorneys for Workers' Compensation
has named The Steinberg Law Firm the Outstanding South Carolina Law Firm of
the Year. David Pearlman accepted the award earlier this month at the annual
meeting of the Association held in Columbia, SC.
The award, which is made only in rare cases -when members feel
that a law firm has excelled in the area of workers' compensation
- was given to the firm based on its advocacy for the rights of
injured workers and its success in cases before the SC Court of
Appeals and the SC Supreme Court.
In June, Pearlman and Kevin Holmes won the case of a teenager
who was involved in a single care accident while working part-time
after school. Tragically, the young man was rendered a paraplegic.
The attorneys for the Steinberg Law Firm were successful in obtaining
an award of compensation based on his probable future earnings.
The firm's efforts prevented their client from suffering a lifetime
of poverty.
In November, Tom White and Kevin Holmes argued the case of a former
North Charleston firefighter before the Supreme Court. The firm's
efforts successfully lengthened the period of time that an employee
has to bring a claim for a repetitive trauma injury.
The firm, which was founded in Charleston over 76 years ago, has
long been an advocate for workers' rights. The firm's founders
helped write the original workers' compensation law in South Carolina
and its attorneys today remain committed to protecting the rights
of workers injured on the job. The Steinberg Law Firm operates
offices in downtown Charleston and Goose Creek. Its nine attorneys
practice in the areas of workers' compensation, auto accidents,
wrongful death and product liability, social security disability
and bankruptcy. |
