“I have the privilege of working with people from all different backgrounds. The laws can be complex and confusing for parties involved in a case, and I enjoy being able to take the stress away from my client(s) and fight for what is right.”
Lara N. Browne is an attorney at the Steinberg Law Firm with a strong background in workers’ compensation law. Prior to joining Steinberg Law Firm, she served as Legal Counsel for a major, self-insured healthcare organization in the Lowcountry, overseeing a workers’ compensation program for over 6,000 employees. In this role, she provided training on workplace safety and accident prevention while handling the legal defense on behalf of the company.
Lara’s extensive experience on the defense side of workers’ compensation claims provides her with valuable insight into how employers and insurance companies manage these cases. Early in her career, she worked at a large defense firm representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. This role gave her firsthand exposure to the entire process, from the moment an individual was injured to the resolution of their case, as well as an in-depth understanding of how claims are handled before an injured worker hires an attorney.
After spending a decade representing employers and insurance carriers, Lara transitioned to representing injured workers. She thrives on the challenge and complexity of workers’ compensation cases, enjoying the opportunity to make a difference in her clients’ lives by alleviating their stress and fighting for justice.
A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) and Temple University Beasley School of Law, Lara has been licensed to practice law in South Carolina for over 10 years. During law school, she volunteered with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, where she worked closely with incarcerated individuals who claimed they had been wrongfully convicted, sharpening her investigative skills.
After graduating from Penn State, Lara gained extensive customer service experience and honed her negotiation skills as a recruiter and staffing specialist. These roles provided her with a strong foundation in communication and problem-solving, which continue to serve her well in her legal career.
Lara’s path to becoming a lawyer was shaped by her passion for helping others and her desire to make a meaningful impact. She initially pursued work in substance abuse counseling and recruitment before realizing her calling in the legal field. Her diverse experiences have honed her negotiation skills and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Lara has always been driven by a desire to make a difference in the world, a passion that eventually led her to pursue a career in law. From a young age, she actively volunteered and engaged with her community, gaining invaluable experience along the way. Working at a nursing home and assisted living facility, followed by volunteering at a local hospital, where she supported nursing and medical staff, her compassion for people has lead her forward. She later expanded her efforts by working for a psychological services hotline and volunteering with the Red Cross, further demonstrating her dedication to helping others.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Lara moved to South Carolina in 2013 with her husband, Chris, where they built a life together despite not knowing anyone in the area. Lara and Chris now live in Mount Pleasant with their three children (twin boys and a daughter). In her free time, she enjoys Penn State sports, fantasy football, strength training, traveling, and exploring new restaurants.
