Memorial Day boating accident kills one, injures others

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has released reports on a boating accident that resulted in the death of one and the major injury of another boater on Memorial Day in Charleston.

According to DNR spokesperson Robert McCullough, a 28-foot Baha boat with six people riding in it and a 31-foot Fountain boat carrying five people were coming around a corner near Pimlico Boat Landing when they collided with one another. Twenty-seven-year-old Robbie Mullinax was killed at the scene of the accident and everyone else was taken to Medical University Hospital. All but the girlfriend of the Baja boat’s driver were released following treatment.

Further details are going to be needed to ascertain who is at fault for the accident occurring and what contributing factors led to the crash. Officials will be needing damage assessment results of the two vehicles and complete passenger testimonies to finalize their investigation.
