Accident takes the life of a Summerville man

A man from Summerville was killed last week in a car accident on Road 16, according to authorities.

The accident occurred on May 24 around 7 p.m. when the man was driving his Ford Ranger southbound on the roadway and ran off the right side of the road for unknown reasons. The 45-year-old man was pinned in the vehicle as a result of the accident and had to be extricated by emergency crews.

The man was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident to figure out further details.
