Family awarded $58.6 Million in birth injury lawsuit

The parents of a boy who suffered massive brain damage during delivery have been awarded $58.6 million by a Connecticut jury this week. This is a record for the largest medical malpractice verdict in the state. The family filed a lawsuit against the wife's obstetrician, who was found to have caused his injuries by delaying delivery via cesarean section.

The boy, who is now eight years-old, will not be able walk, talk, or eat on his own for the rest of his life. The $58.6 million will go towards the child's lifetime need of nursing care, medical care, and adaptive equipment.
