1 Killed in South Carolina Car Accident on US-17

One person is dead following a three-vehicle accident on North US-17 early Tuesday morning.

North Myrtle Beach Police officers say the crash occurred shortly before 3:00 a.m. on US-17 between Sea Mountain Highway and Highway 9. According to a statement released by the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, police believe a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of the highway when it struck another vehicle almost head on. The impact of the crash sent the northbound vehicle into the southbound lanes where it struck a third car.

Deputy Coroner Chris Burroughs said that 28 year-old Mitchell White died of multiple trauma. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Two other people were injured in the crash and were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
