IKEA issues recall for plastic high chairs

IKEA announced last week that it will be recalling its “Antilop” plastic high chairs due to belt restraint failure.

The Swedish furniture company sold the high chairs in the United States from August 2006 to January 2010. Nearly 169,000 high chairs were sold throughout the U.S. and Canada, along with 1.2 million in Europe. IKEA received eight complaints worldwide of children falling from the chair after the belt restraint became unclasped, three suffered minor injuries.

The “Antilop” high chair came in red, blue, and white plastic seats with silver removable legs. Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are strongly suggested to stop using it immediately and contact the nearest IKEA location about getting a free belt restraint replacement.
