Driver Charged in Wrong-Way Car Wreck

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said a man believed to be suffering from dementia drove the wrong way down Interstate 85 causing an accident.

61 year-old Ernest Robinson was driving the wrong way on I-85. As other drivers dodged his vehicle they called police. A woman from Spartanburg was unable to avoid Robinson and her SUV collided with the car head-on.

Robinson is listed as in fair condition at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. The woman from Spartanburg was treated and released.

Troopers charged Robinson with driving the wrong way on the interstate. Robinson reportedly told officers that he was confused.
