Elderly Sunset man killed in motorcycle accident

A 75 year-old Sunset man was killed Sunday afternoon when his Harley Davidson motorcycle overturned on Whitewater Falls Road near Walhalla. The man was traveling with two friends to Salem when the fatal accident occurred.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the man lost control on a sharp left-hand turn and ran off the road and into a ditch. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Oconee Medical Center where he later died from blunt force trauma to his chest and abdomen.

There will be no further investigation into the crash as the man’s death was ruled an accident. This is the seventh traffic accident this year in Oconee County.
