Ft. Jackson Soldier Killed in Crash

A soldier stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina was killed early Sunday morning in a car accident.

A spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the soldier, identified by Fort Jackson officials as Cpt. Tony Brannon, Jr., was traveling west on Clemson Road shortly before midnight when his vehicle struck an embankment near the Percival Road intersection.

The 38-year-old Brannon was pronounced dead at the scene, but was transported to Palmetto Health Richland for an autopsy.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
