Igloo Recalls Over One Million Coolers Due to Injury Risk
Everyone loves a cooler here in South Carolina. From BBQs to the beach, coolers are a necessity in the searing summer heat. But if you own an Igloo 90-Quart Rolling Cooler, you may want to check your model number—over one million of these coolers have been recalled due to serious safety concerns.
Why the Recall?
The recall, issued by Igloo in collaboration with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), comes after reports of users suffering fingertip amputations and crushing injuries. The problem lies within the cooler’s tow handle, which can pinch consumers’ fingers against the cooler causing injuries.
Which Coolers Are Affected?
The recall affects Igloo 90-quart rolling coolers sold between 2019 and 2025 at major retailers like Academy Sports + Outdoors, Amazon, Target, Dick’s, Costco, and others. The specific cooler impacted is the Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers. If you have one of these coolers, check the recall page and the label on the bottom of the cooler to confirm the model number, as there are over 40 models on the recall list.
What Should You Do?
If you own one of the coolers above, stop using it immediately and contact Igloo for a free latch replacement. You can reach Igloo at their recall website or by calling their customer service line at 1-800-273-7024.
