Man charged in DUI accident

A man from Lexington, South Carolina has been charged with drunk driving following a car accident that killed his wife.

The accident occurred at 8:15 on May 14 when the couple was driving on Old Orangeburg Road when their car went off the road. After leaving the roadway, the car sideswiped a utility pole and landed in a ditch.

The 44-year-old driver was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries and his 45-year-old wife was pronounced dead at the scene. A few days after the accident, the man was arrested for DUI that resulted in death charges.

Drunk driving is a serious crime that can cause serious injury and has devastating effects on all involved. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.
