Man Injured in Car Accident Outside of
A man in Aiken County, South Carolina is in the hospital after a car crash Wednesday morning.
According to statements made by officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred along the 300 block of Bettis Academy Road, just outside the South Carolina National Guard recruiting office. Preliminary police reports say the driver of a pickup truck crossed over the center line of the road and struck a semi-truck.
The driver of the pickup was trapped inside the vehicle and rescue crews had to use metal cutters to extract the man. “The door on the driver’s side was pretty much demolished…” said Captain Allen niece of the Graniteville-Vaucluse-Warrenville Fire Department. “it was a very time consuming extraction. It took us approximately twenty minutes to extract the patient from the vehicle.”
The driver of the pickup truck is recovering in an area hospital, and will be charged with driving left of center.
Police did not comment on the nature or extent of the man’s injuries.
