Motorcyclist injured in DUI hit-and-run

A motorcyclist struck by a hit-and-run drunk driver remains in critical condition today.

The accident happened at 9 PM on Thursday at the intersection of MacCorkle Avenue and Montrose Drive. The motorcyclist was headed east on MacCorkle Avenue when the driver of a car headed west turned left onto MacCorkle and hit him.

The motorcyclist was throw over 30 feet from his bike. He suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to CAMC General.

The driver of the car fled the scene but police managed to catch up with him. He faces DUI, hit-and-run, and failure to render aid charges.
