Outer Banks and Steinberg Law Firm

Quarantine and Netflix are almost synonymous at this point. If Netflix wasn’t part of your nightly routine, it probably is now as it’s one of the saving graces keeping the world entertained during COVID-19. You’ll find movies and shows of every category and genre providing you with plenty of options for whatever mood you’re in.

One show in particular, Outer Banks, has caught the attention of many. It’s a captivating storyline and family-friendly style makes it something that the entire household can watch together. The show takes place on the North Carolina coast where a group of teenagers hunt for hidden treasure after a hurricane washes mysterious clues ashore! Ironically enough the show is actually filmed right here in Charleston. Netflix and the producers of the show have taken our local city and molded it into the incredible storyline!

Legislation in North Carolina did not permit the show to be filmed in its original intended location of Wilmington, so the producers decided that Charleston would be a great solution! Both states share the same coastline making it a perfect alternative while keeping the actual geographic location close. The majority of the show takes place outdoors and the actors were given boating, surfing, and diving lessons to help them understand life as a Charleston beach dweller. Iconic places in the historic Lowcountry city such as James Island, Jones Island, Hunting Island, Kiawah Island, Shem Creek, the Old Village in Mount Pleasant, McClellanville, Charleston Harbor, and the Morris Island Lighthouse are featured in the show. If you watch closely, you may recognize these familiar sights!

The Charleston Lowcountry is truly a unique place, rich in history and classic architecture that dates back to the Civil War era. The setting is great for an adventurous show like Outer Banks to highlight treasure from the 1700s. Charleston has deep roots in the Civil War and was one of the strongholds of the southern confederacy making the idea of finding lost treasure from that time period very believable!
