The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of a medical emergency services helicopter that crashed in Georgetown, killing all three individuals on board.

After dropping off a patient in Charleston about two hours earlier, the American Eurocopter helicopter went down around 11:30 p.m. The company operating the flight, Omniflight Helicopters Inc., released a statement confirming the accident and expressing condolences to the families of those killed. Omniflight said the identity of the victims will not be released until notification of the families is complete.

According to the NTSB, fatal accidents of emergency medical helicopters reached a record high last year. Thirteen accidents killed 29 people. There have been over 80 incidents in the last six years.
