Car Accident Results in DUI Charge

A car accident near Charleston resulted in a drunken driving charge for a Coos Bay man.

According to officials with the Coos County Sheriff’s Department, 44 year-old Jimmy Bogue was driving a Ford Taurus on Sand Dollar Lane shortly after 1:00 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle. The Taurus left the roadway and crashed into a pole. Emergency responders from the Charleston Rural Fire Protection District worked to extricate Bogue from his vehicle.

Bogue was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital before being released into the custody of the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken to the Coos County jail on charged of driving under the influence and driving while suspended. He was released on citation later that morning, according to a jail spokeswoman.
