On August 20, 2021, a couple visiting from California and celebrating their anniversary were struck and injured by an SUV as they crossed the street in the crosswalk at the corner of Pickney Street and Anson Street. Attorney Taylor Grooms represented the husband in his case against the driver.

The driver rolled through the stop sign and hit the 74-year-old husband on his left side, throwing him to the ground and severely injuring his right hip and shoulder.

Side street footage leading up to the crash shows him speeding down the side street, such that bystanders are seen commenting on his speed.
