Case Result: $500,000 Settlement Tied to Infection Caused by Nail Salon

Going to get your nails done at your favorite salon involves a measure of trust that the salon takes the proper sanitary precautions and the nail technician will not harm you.

Recently, attorney and partner Michael Jordan settled a case against a Charleston County nail salon after a woman was cut during a routine manicure, leading to an infection and the amputation of her finger.

A regular customer of the salon, our client was in her 70’s when she was negligently cut while having a manicure. The injury was to her nailbed, which then became swollen and infected.

Trusting the salon, she returned several times hoping they could assist her in managing the infection. Finally, after seeking the assistance of a medical doctor, the client was referred to a surgeon, who recommended amputating her finger because the infection had spread to the bone.

The salon denied responsibility but eventually settled the case for $500,000.
