Woman Rear-Ended While at Complete Stop on South Carolina Highway 61 Settles Case for $1.6 Million

Recently, Steinberg Law Firm attorney Michael Jordan settled a car accident case for $1.6 million. Our client, a 46-year-old woman at the time of the crash, was driving a small Ford SUV on Highway 61 in Dorchester County, SC. She was at a complete stop when she was rear-ended by a utility company pickup truck going approximately 55 miles per hour.

Her vehicle was hit so hard that it was crushed beyond repair and was pushed off the road and into the woods.

Our client's vehicle was hit so hard that it was crushed beyond repair and was pushed off the road and into the woods.

Our client was transported to the emergency room and suffered lifelong permanent injuries including neck, back and shoulder damage that prevent her from working in her career as a machine operator.

While she was not a candidate for surgery, her past and ongoing treatments include injections, physical therapy, and medication. Expert witnesses tied her injuries directly to the crash.

The utility company’s insurance company initially refused to negotiate, resulting in attorney Jordan filing a lawsuit. The case went to mediation but failed to reach an agreement. Shortly after mediation, a settlement was reached, resulting in the $1.6 million outcome.

“We are pleased that the defendant and their insurance company ultimately came to the table with an acceptable offer after a lawsuit was filed and mediation failed. Our client has been through significant pain and suffering and her life is forever changed,” said attorney Jordan.
