Benjamin W. Akery joined our firm in 2008 and became a partner in 2016. He also serves on the board of governors for the South Carolina Association for Justice and is a member of Injured Workers Advocates. Recognized for his leadership and results, he has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® for ten consecutive years (2016–2025), was named the 2022 Workers’ Compensation Law Claimants’ “Lawyer of the Year” in Charleston, and has earned recognition from Super Lawyers® as a Super Lawyer. Kelly Alfreds represents clients in personal injury and workers’ compensation matters with an emphasis on preparation, communication, and advocacy. Kelly is a certified mediator who stays engaged with developments in the legal community through her involvement with the Charleston County Bar Association, Dorchester County Bar Association, Injured Workers’ Advocates, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and the South Carolina Bar. She currently serves as the Lowcountry Representative for the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. In addition to her legal work, Kelly is active in the community as a board member of the Summerville Chamber of Commerce and the Kay Phillips Children’s Advocacy Center.
Steven E. Goldberg, with more than 30 years of experience, represents clients in a wide range of accident and injury cases. Attorney Goldberg has recovered millions of dollars for his clients through settlements and verdicts, including a $3.5 million resolution in a wrongful death truck accident case and a $10 million settlement in 2025. Attorney Goldberg dedicates his time to his clients by providing them with outstanding service throughout the course of their case.
Adam Greene focuses on workers’ compensation, longshore and harbor workers’ injuries, and Social Security disability claims. Drawing on prior experience representing insurance carriers and employers, he understands how claims are evaluated and defended and uses that insight to advocate strategically for injured workers. In addition to his legal practice, Adam is actively involved in professional legal associations and supports Big Brothers Big Sisters, demonstrating a commitment not only to the legal profession but also to serving and strengthening the community.
Michael J. Jordan approaches every case with compassion and clarity. Michael has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America multiple years and was named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers. His trial work has also been featured in South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. He has served as president of both the Berkeley County Bar Association and South Carolina Injured Workers’ Advocates and remains active in several state and local bar organizations. Beyond his legal work, Michael is committed to community service, volunteering with organizations such as Lowcountry AIDS Services and Kids’ Chance of South Carolina. Attorney Jordan is an empathetic lawyer who provides assurance to his clients that they have a partner in their legal battles.
Catherine D. Meehan brings a unique perspective to her work in personal injury and workers’ compensation law. Catie earned her B.A. in psychology and a B.S. in nursing from MUSC before transitioning from hospital care to the legal field. Beyond her practice, she serves on the Board of Directors for Kids’ Chance of South Carolina, as well as the Alumni Board of the Charleston School of Law and the MUSC College of Nursing Board. She is also a member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Junior League of Charleston.
As a partner at our firm, David T. Pearlman focuses his practice on workers’ compensation matters. David has secured landmark victories before both the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. He has served as an adjunct professor of workers’ compensation law at the Charleston School of Law and as legislative chair of South Carolina Injured Workers’ Advocates for more than a decade. A recipient of the Gedney M. Howe Jr. Award for Outstanding Public Service and multiple Leadership in Law honors, David has been recognized for years in Best Lawyers in America, named a Super Lawyer by his peers, and holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for the highest professional and ethical standards.
Thomas M. White has been with our firm since 1980 and has devoted his career to advocating for individuals injured on the job. He has secured multi-million dollar settlements for his clients. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, and South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association. For the past 20 years, Tom has been listed in Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers for Workers’ Compensation. Tom has served on the Charleston County Common Pleas Liaison Committee and the Charleston County Grievance Committee. He is a former municipal judge in Goose Creek and a member of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Claimants’ Association. Since 1980, Attorney White has focused on cases related to workplace injuries, advocating for maximum compensation on behalf of his clients.
